Basic Terms & Conditions

When you use Carbon Zero (the “Service”), you are setting up an agreement between Carbon Finance and Investments Limited and yourself. Below is the short version of the legal terms for use of the Services.

Which country law and courts apply

Nigerian law applies, and disputes will be taken to the Nigerian courts.

Customer’s Consent

You consent and agree to the following in this Agreement

(a). Sending you information through emails, social media, or the Carbon App.
(b). Reviewing your credit report from time to time.
(c). Debiting your account to reduce or pay off debt you owe us.
(d). Our sharing the information you have given us so we can provide you with our services. Please see our privacy policy here
(e). That the item you have purchased using the service shall belong to Carbon until you have successfully completed all your repayments.
(f). We are not responsible for delivering the item to you and all arrangements for delivery, pickup or collection should be made with the merchant.

Condition for use of Carbon Zero

To be able to access the Service, you must

(a). Agree to our terms and conditions;
(b). Register on the app;
(c). Be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident, and
(d). Be at least 18 years old.

We may need you to provide some additional information which will allow us to identify you, and meet our obligations under law.

Lending Terms

If you use the Service and complete a purchase, we will send the total amount of the item to
the merchant. You agree to repay the amount, including any fees.

We will take the money from either your Carbon account, the debit card provided by you, or by bank transfer. If you do not make your payments on time, or break your agreement with us, we will have the right to take the money from any amount left in your available balance.

Interest Payments

We will only charge you a one-time processing fee if you make your installment payments on time. If you stick to three (3) monthly payments, and make your payments on time, you will not be charged any interest fee so, you will only end up paying the actual price for the item and the processing fee. If you decide to make six (6) monthly payments your first three months will be interest free, and you will pay a monthly interest of 2% starting from month four (4). If you do not make your monthly payments on or before the due date starting from month one (1) your interest will become 5%.

Exchange and Refunds

If you wish to exchange the item or ask for are fund, you must contact the merchant directly. If the Merchant permits a refund, we will refund to you any amounts already paid.

Our responsibility to you

If you qualify to use the Service, we will send the total amount for the item to the merchant after you have made the 25% down payment.

We will also send you a repayment schedule that sets out your repayment to us. If you do not make your payments on time, or break your agreement with us, we will try to collect the money, using legal means, including reporting you to the CentralBank of Nigeria

Closing your account

Please contact us, if you want to close your account. You will need to pay us any money you owe us before we close your account. If we decide to close your account we will notify you first but, we may close your account without informing you, if we believe that you have given us false information, committed or tried to commit a crime, or acted against this agreement.


We will not be responsible for any loss or damage which could not have been anticipated.
We will also be unable to bear responsibility for any loss or damage which is beyond our reasonable control.

General Terms

We will update these terms and conditions from time to time, and will notify you once we have done so. If you are not happy with the changes, and choose to close your account, please let us know. If you choose to keep your account, it means you have accepted our terms.
